ISSB original bank

Iowa State Savings Bank is celebrating their 140th anniversary. Longevity, experience, and consistency are words used to describe Iowa State Savings Bank’s rich history. ISSB was formed by a group of Creston community investors who pooled their money to form the Bank in December of 1883. Founded by the community, a commitment to social responsibility is deeply ingrained in the bank’s culture and continues today.

The bank has withstood numerous challenges during their 140 years, including the Great Depression, Ag Crisis, Mortgage Crisis, and the pandemic. Through the efforts of generations of ISSB stakeholders, they persevered and remain a constant presence in Southwest Iowa.

Challenges present new opportunities, and ISSB has continually adapted to changing times and evolving customer needs. After opening their doors with $30,000, the bank now has assets of $250 Million, and their customer base has grown from primarily Creston residents to now serving customers in Lenox, and throughout Southwest Iowa. Technology played a major role within the banking industry over the past several decades, and ISSB responded by being an early adopter of customer technologies such as the bank’s 24/7 ATM network, online banking, and mobile banking services.

“ISSB has been a trusted partner for our customers, employees, and communities over the past 140 years, and we will continue this legacy into the future,” states Adam Snodgrass, ISSB President & CEO. “We truly are a hometown bank that is committed to helping our customers and communities succeed.”

Iowa State Saving Bank’s success is a testament to the dedication of their employees, loyalty of their customers, and support from the communities. Iowa State Savings Bank’s long-standing history, decades of experience in the financial industry, and deep understanding of our rural communities positions them to be your financial partner.
